The age of the three

There once was a choirmaster.
One day three people came in and asked to join the choir.
The choirmaster, who believes that there should be age for his choir's members, asks their
ages.
To that question, one of them replied: "We can't tell you our ages, but we can tell you the
following: the product of our ages is 2450, and the sum of our ages is twice your age."
The choirmaster is puzzled: "That's not enough information!"
Just then, the vicar walked in and said: "But I'm older than all of them"
The choirmaster, who knew the vicar's age, then exclaimed: "Ah! Now I know."
How old is the vicar?

Fifty Monks and Vow of Silence

There's a monastry of fifty monks that have taken a vow of silence. They go through the same
routine every day. They wake up, pray. They go to lunch, their only meal of the day, were
they all sit round a big circular table, and eat a simple meal. Then they go back to their rooms
and pray. Then they fall asleep.
One day, the head monk of the area comes to visit. He's a bit different - he's allowed to talk
and has a life outside the monastry. He tells them that there is currently a plague ravaging the
land. People everywhere are dying. The disease manifests itself as red blotches on the
forehead. The blotches are the only manifestation of the disease for three months, whereupon
the next stage starts, a horribly painful death.
The head monk tells them that at least one of their midst will have the disease, probably
more. Anybody with the disease should kill themselves, to save all of the pain and suffering.
By killing themselves, they will restrict the movement of the disease, and will go to heaven.
Anybody with the disease will show the first symptoms within a month. The chief monk then
leaves. He returns two months later, to find that all of the infected monks have killed
themselves, and they all did it on the same day.
Bear in mind the following:
§ They have no mirrors or any other way of seeing themselves
§ The blotches appear only on the forehead and cannot be seen by the monk
§ Infected monks feel no different - the only manifestation of the first part of the disease
are the blotches.
§ The monks cannot talk to each other or in any other way communicate.
§ Any monks with the disease will display the blotches within a month of the head monk
leaving.
§ At least one monk definitely has the disease.
§ The monks only see each other once per day, at lunch, when they are all sat round the
round table.
§ These monks are brighter than the average monk....
How did they know whether or not they were infected and why did they all kill themselves on
the same day?

Three in a row

Hello LLs,
I today have come up with three interesting puzzles which are not as tough as they are expected to be. And probably, this is the reason that I am giving you three puzzles to solve. What you are supposed to do is solve three puzzles at a stretch, in as less time as possible. On the basis of survey I did with my fellow mates and friends, an average person will require five and a half minutes to solve all the puzzles together. One of the persons solved all three puzzles in just two minutes and twenty seconds. I hope you all can cross these puzzles in as less time as possible. All the best.

Puzzle #1:

There are three friends Sachin, Rahul and Saurav, who are talking about Anil. They all had been to painting exhibition and these are the statements they made.
Sachin: Anil has bought at least four Paintings.
Rahul: Anil has bought less than four Paintings.
Saurav: Anil has bought at least one Painting.

Only one of them is speaking truth.

Now, you have to guess the number of paintings Anil has bought.

Puzzle #2:

In my bedroom there are 20 black, 20 white, 30 red and 15 blue socks available. I went inside my room and it is all dark and no electricity available. Now, I need to have two pairs of Socks for my road trip. All socks of same colour are exactly same.
You have to tell me that in all how many socks should I take outside my room that I will surely have two pairs of Socks. These two pairs can be of the same colour or the different colour. But in the same pair, socks have to be of same colour.

Puzzle #3:

Ravi and Sunil were sitting on the bank of the river. Ravi takes certain number of stones and hides in his pocket. Ravi then tells Sunil that he has certain stones, total number is either 1 or 2 or 3.
Sunil has to ask one question and determine the number of stones. He can ask the question and Ravi will answer in Yes, No or Don't know. What will that question be?

Enjoy. And don't forget to note the time. Signing off!

Spooky Number

As, we are following the trails of the numbers, we come to know strange things about them. But, believe me, no thing is as strange as this characteristic is.

What, you have to do is,
1. Take any four digit number. (Leading zero is permitted. But, all four digits can't be same.)
2. Arrange the digits in the number in the descending order. Consider this new number as M.
3. Arrange the digits in the number in the ascending order. Consider this new number as N.
4. Subtract N from M.
5. Go to Step 2 and repeat this procedure with the answer you got from subtraction.

You may take any number whatsoever. But, with certain series of repeating this procedure, you will always end up with one number. Which will then, keep repeating itself.

Isn't it spooky?
You take any number and still you will end up with the same number after certain operations. This number is known as Kaprekar's constant. And the above procedure is called Kaprekar's routine.

You, after taking a single number and repeating the procedure for n number of times, you will get to the answer. But, in this puzzle, it is not about getting the answer. It is about learning the strange characteristic.

This Kaprekar's constant has been given name from an Indian Mathematician Dr. D.R. Kaprekar. He has given Kaprekar, Harshad and Self Numbers. You can learn more about the mathematician and various numbers he came up with, with the help of Internet. All the best to you. Research More and More. And, if you have any idea about such strange numbers, come up with those.

Numbers speak more than words

Today, I am here to bring your attention to some extraordinary numbers , which look just like other numbers but carry some special attributes. And, as always, I won't bring you the solutions , you have to identify these numbers :

1, Armstrong Number:
There are some three digit numbers, which possess this characteristic. Armstrong numbers are those numbers, which equal to the sum of cubes of all its digits. There are four numbers having this characteristic. I will give you one. Find the other three.
153- here cube of 1…5…3 is 1…125…27 and sum of 1,125,27 is 153 itself. So, this number is called Armstrong number. Bring me other three. :)

2. Ramanujan Number:
First number which can be written as sum of two cubes in two different way.
You don't need much information in this criteria. Just test your brain and come up with the answer.

3. Perfect Number:
A number is called perfect, if sum of all its positive divisors excluding itself equal to that number itself. For example: 6
6 has positive divisors- 1,2,3 (and 6, which is excluded) so, its sum is 6 too. (1+2+3) Thus, 6 is perfect number.
(FUN FACT: THIS IS SO CALLED REASON WHY 6 HAS BIGGER INFLUENCE IN HISTORY.)
Get me other perfect numbers.

All the best Logic Lovers. I hope you will succeed.

8 Queens' Problem

Hello Logic Lovers,
Today I am back with a very interesting and well known puzzle of N Queens' Problem. This puzzle is based on the game of Chess.
If, you hadn't come across Chess ever before, take a look at the chess board. I will brief you with the details that you need to focus during solving the puzzle.

Here, YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO PUT EIGHT QUEENS IN A WAY THAT NO QUEEN CAN KILL ANY OTHER ONE.

Now, In what all ways a queen can kill...
A queen can kill any other queen if it is in the same row or column. And, in the same diagonal.

Now, for naming conventions of each square, we use combination of row and column number.

So, here, if one queen is on A8, you can't put other queen in row 8 and column A. In addition, the diagonal containing squares like: B7, C6, D5,..., H1 too can't contain another queen.

This is what the situation is and you have to come up with the solution of putting all eight queens. This is a known puzzle but an amazing brain twister.
If I can say, it is quite an easy one. As, there are total 92 solutions possible for this Problem. I am sure that you will be able to come up with at least one solution. All the best. For any further queries, you may comment here.

Who will succeed in Prison Break

Hello all. I am back with the new puzzle. Here, the scenario is of the prison. In which, prisoners were planning to break the jail. Now, the thing is that, there are switches available for the rooms in which they are staying. Here, the switch ON means that the gate is open and the switch OFF means that the gate is closed. But, there is no indicator that the switch right now is ON or OFF. Now, every prisoner is given a chance to go to the switch and open the gate of the room in which he is staying.
As, they were planning the break and no one in prison trusts anyone else. So, they wanted to come up with a solution through which they can be sure that no one will cheat and some of them will be able to break the prison. So, they decide that, every prisoner, when goes to the switch room will change the status of the switch of all the rooms whose numbers are multiple of the room number in which he is staying. ie, A prisoner in room no. 2 will change the status of switch of all rooms having numbers: 2,4,6,8....
Now, there are total 1000 rooms available. And, every prisoner will do the same thing. We, here have to find out that who all will succeed in breaking the prison and who all will not.

The question is merely about logic. The more you will think, the nearer you will reach to the answer. So, try to solve it on your own. There are many versions of this puzzle available on the Internet. So, it is better if you try to solve it on your own. All the best LLs. Don't forget to comment your answers below this post.

Cricket League Puzzle

Hey Logic Lovers!!
I am here with some interesting brain exercise for you today.
This doesn't require any kind of knowledge or interest in the field of cricket. You just need to focus on the facts given and try to answer the questions.
League: IPL(Indian Premier League)
Teams: 8
Number of Games: In the initial stage, every team is supposed to play all other opponent teams twice.
Rules:
There will not be any tie/draw in any game.
Every game will end with a result, ie, one team winning and other team losing.
For every win, two points are awarded.
For every loss, zero points are awarded/deducted.
Top four teams after this initial stage will qualify into the semifinals.
If two or more teams end up with the same number of points, the net runrate will come into picture, and the team with the higher rating will end up above the other team/teams on the point table.

I, being a team manager and interested in statistics want some informations.
1) What is the least number of games a team can win and still be through to semi finals? In other words, I want to find out that at least how many games my team must win to stay hoping for the semi final spot.
2) What is the maximum number of games a team can win and still do not qualify for the semi finals? In other words, even after winning what maximum number of games, other teams can stop my team's way to the semi finals.

You are supposed to answer both the questions with the correct logic(the number of points of all the eight teams - on the point table) Try to answer both but if you find difficulty and can't answer both, you can comment answer of any single question too. Comment your answer and we can discuss on logic behind these kind of puzzles.
All the best Logic Lovers!!! Your brain exercise starts now... Keep puzzling.

Jagga Jasoos #10

Jagga: "If you haven't come across death in your life time, you are lucky. I had been in the face of death for more than once."
This statement was spoken by Jagga Jasoos, when I asked him to tell the worst(not one of the worst) experience of lifetime. Even I had goosebumps when I listened to his experience.Let me narrate the story as a climax question for our tournament.
Jagga Jasoos was kidnapped by Shakal. Shakal was the biggest underworld Don. Shakal had the strongest security and no one was able to break the security. So, only end for all the kidnapped people was: DEATH. Shakal had kidnapped Jagga Jasoos because Jagga had once given his one friend in the hands of police. So, Shakal was furious and wanted Jagga Jasoos to be dead. Jagga Jasoos, when kidnapped had decided that his time was about to be over and he won't be able to see sunshine again. That night, Jagga Jasoos was going to be killed by Shakal himself. But, as every person on the Earth has soft corner in their heart, Shakal was not exception. He had maintained a terminology to give his kidnapped ones, a chance to present themselves in front of him. Everyone was supposed to speak one statement and their future depended on Shakal about what to do with them. With Jagga Jasoos under his hand, he had to follow this terminology but with that, he didn't want to let Jagga go without being killed. So, he planned an extra-ordinary system.
Shakal asked Jagga Jasoos to speak one statement.
1) If Shakal found it to be true, Shakal will hang Jagga Jasoos to death.
2) If Shakal found it to be false, Shakal will shoot Jagga Jasoos with sniper rifle.
In both the ways, Jagga Jasoos was supposed to be dead at the end of the process. But, Shakal didn't know that this process had a loophole. And, Jagga Jasoos was able to find that loophole after a brain-storming of ten minutes. And, Jagga was ready with the statement at the end of tenth minute, which will force Shakal to let him go without killing.
Now, you are here to solve this mystery of Jagga Jasoos' statement. What Jagga Jasoos would have said that saved his life? It is only one line statement. And, the mystery will be solved with the help of simple logic. No rocket science is involved. Solve this mystery. This mystery contains double marks as being one of the most interesting experience of Jagga Jasoos. Solve this and twice the alloted marks are provided to you.

Jagga Jasoos #9

Hello Logic Lovers. I am getting responses from your side saying that the puzzles asked in this season are a bit tough. For that sake, I have decided to ask this puzzle, which is quite easy. Solve this one.
Jagga Jasoos is today in the pink city of India - Jaipur. A very wealthy man was murdered on the most peaceful day of the year - 2nd October, 2013. I personally can not believe how a person can murder someone on such a peaceful day. Anyway, back to the puzzle.
This man was murdered during afternoon and his wife had called the police at 3:23 PM. The news of this murder had been spread throughout the country by the mediums of Radio and Television. Public had started demanding to hang the killer on this day itself. Police department was under pressure from top level politicians and thus they decided to take Jagga Jasoos with them on the crime scene. And as always, Jagga Jasoos was able to catch the killer within minutes.
What happened when Police reached at the crime scene:
Jagga Jasoos asked police to find evidences near the dead body. (Actually he asked them to do this so that he can directly question to all the suspects.
On being asked about their whereabouts at the time of murder, the answers of each of them are:
Wife said,"I was sleeping in my bedroom for the last two hours."
Son said,"I went for movies with my girlfriend in Big Cinemas. I can show you the tickets for them, too."
Neighbour:"I went for the marriage of my brother-in-law in nearby party plot. I had returned from there just now."
Driver:"I went to withdraw cash.So I didn't know anything about this murder until I returned here."
Cook:"I went to wine shop near Railway Station  to buy wines that Sahib had ordered."
Gardner:"I was in the garden the whole time. I was busy finishing the everyday cutting of the plants parts. I didn't hear any shout or anything during that time."
Watchman:"I went to my friend's home for congratulating him on his new job at Sawai Jaysingh Palace."

After finishing talk with all the suspects, Jagga was ready to declare the name of the killer. You are here to tell who the killer was. And what was the reason behind catching the killer?
All the best to you all. A Piece of Cake for you all Logic Lovers.

Jagga Jasoos #8

Jagga Jasoos had solved many crime cases which were just out of the world. Some cases included Ghosts, certain cases asked Jagga to fight against Dark magic. Today, I am here with one certain case happened in which Dark magic was used on two Witnesses. This case though is related with dark magic, it can be solved with the use of simple logic and simple brain storming.
How the incident happened:
One day, in a village named, Kulgadh, at the midnight, on the cross roads, the murder happened. One couple was walking from there and saw an old aged man killing his friend with the help of a knife. Then, suddenly this knife got disappeared. Suddenly, this man saw that couple seeing all these happenings. He went near them, couple was frightened. As, they both had seen the thing, he applied dark magic on them. Now, from this couple, one of them will speak only lie and the other will speak only truth. Till the mystery is solved, the investigators can ask only one question to each of this couple. And the question has to be same for both of them.
Now, after investigation of some evidences, police had narrowed down the list of suspects to two persons. One was, that old man who had murdered. And the second was son of the person who was murdered.
Now, police were unable to reach to the culprit. So, they asked Jagga Jasoos to help them solve the case. As, the investigators were supposed to ask only one question to couple, they have to think deeply about which question to be asked. Jagga and Police didn't know which member of this couple speaks only truth and which member speaks only lies.
Jagga asked one question to both of them and with the help of the answer, the police was able to find the killer. Now, you being the true Logic Lovers, have to find that question which Jagga had asked to couple. And, what would have been the answers from both of them. This puzzle is brand new in the market so no matter how much will you surf on the Internet, you won't be able to find this puzzle. So, solve on your own and come with the logic.

Number of Socks

Power cut is the worst nightmare to have when you are supposed to reach to your job early morning. When, there is still dark outside and you don't have any resources to help yourself be ready in the dark. This puzzle makes us remember, one such kind of incident, which may happen to any of us. One morning, you wake up to find out that power is out and you are supposed to reach office early in the morning. So, there is no other option but to dress up in the dark. Now, for clothes and all, you can choose with the help of feel. But, socks are all same in terms of material. You have to pick a pair of similar colour of socks for work. Now, you have eight black sock and twelve brown socks in your cupboard. And, as you are not one of the most orderly person on the mother Earth, all the socks are jumbled up. So, how many socks will you need to pick, so you can have at least one pair of socks of same colour.

The above question was quite easy one. You just have to give it a thought of a minute or two, and you will be able to reach to the answer. But, continuing with the same thought process, I ask you one more question:
There are 12 black, 14 brown, 16 white, 10 green and 18 purple socks in your cupboard. How many minimum socks you have to take out, so that you can have at least one pair of same coloured socks.

This question also seems easy. So, now, third question has same number of socks as above mentioned. Now, you are supposed to take two pairs of socks(one for you and one for your colleague) Now how many minimum number of socks, you need to take out so that you can have two pairs of socks.(Each pair of two with the same colour, both these pairs can have different colours.)

Now, come to the last question of this kind of puzzle. Think that you have to take two pairs of the socks of the same colour. (ie, both pairs of white socks, or both pairs of brown socks) Now, number of socks available is same as above. (14 brown, 12 black, 16 white, 10 green, 18 purple). So, what is the number of socks required to pull out, to get these two pairs of same coloured socks.

Pirates Puzzle

Today, we are going to have a puzzle about Pirates who had gone for the search of Gold coins.
There were five pirates in all and each one was of different age than others. With, the luck favouring and their hard work, they were able to get a hundred Gold Coins. But, the moment they were returning to the shore, they started fighting on who got how many gold coins. Some said, they had worked harder and found more gold coins than others, so they were supposed to get more than those who hadn't worked with their complete capabilities.
So, to solve this conflict, they decided to split the coins using this scheme.
The oldest and the wisest pirate suggested that all pirates would vote for or against the sharing of the coins. If the pirate suggesting the sharing gets 50% or more agreement, then the coins will be shared that way. If the pirate suggesting the scheme gets less than 50% agreement in voting, that pirate will be thrown in the sea and then the same procedure will be carried on with the remaining pirates. As, pirates are thirsty for blood, if they are getting the same amount of gold coins in both the cases - voting for the acceptance of the scheme as well as voting against the scheme, then that pirate will vote against the procedure, as in that case, he gets to throw a pirate in the sea. Now, the sequence of suggesting the schemes will be from oldest to youngest.
Now, assume that all these pirates are wise, smart and completely logical towards their profits. And definitely no one wants to die. Then, what will be the outcome of this process? How many pirates will die and how many will stay alive? What are the number of gold coins, everyone will get in the accepted scheme?
The puzzle demands more of a logic than several other puzzles. I have rated this puzzle in one of the toughest puzzles. I recommend you all to try your best to come up with the answer by yourself. The puzzle is completely logical but a bit tough.

Numbers Test

We all being Logic Lovers, seem to have some out of the world relation with numbers. We behave as if numbers are talking to us. We feel modifying numbers and twisting numbers - an art as well as an adventure. So, for this kind of interest, I am here with some questions regarding the numbers, which with the help of simple logic, you will be able to answer. The questions, I am going to ask today will surely twist your brain nerves. These questions are mere IQ questions, but some of these questions require extended thinking, which is not so common in general audience. So, not wasting too much time, I directly come to the questions.
-> What are the number of squares present on the chess board? To clarify the question, we see 32 black and 32 white squares on the chess board. But, by combining certain squares, we start getting bigger squares too. ie, squares of 2 X 2, 3 X 3 and so on. So, you are supposed to answer the total number of squares, we can get on the chess board.
-> There is a cuboid given with length l, breadth b and height h. Now, by stretching on these three dimensions, I create another cuboid. I increase the length of cuboid by 10%,, breadth of cuboid by 15% and height of cuboid by 20%. You are supposed to tell me the change in the volume of this cuboid. Now, consider a cube with all three dimensions, L, L and L. Now, if I increase these three dimensions by 10%, 15% and 25%. What is the change in the surface area of this cube?
-> In the world of natural numbers, there are three numbers as such, the addition of these three numbers is equal to the multiplication of these numbers. What are these three numbers?

These three questions can be used to measure your command on the numbers.
These percentages are defined with the help of a survey on fifty persons taken of different genre. So, it can be used on a larger scale too.
Some other number puzzles for you all, from my collection of puzzles:

ie,
1. If you get all three questions correct, you are thorough with the concepts related to numbers.
2. If you get two out of three questions correct, you are better than 95% of the general audience.
3. If you get one question correct, you are better than 75%  of the general audience.

If you reach to answers, comment those answers below this post. I am eager to know your capabilities. You can also ask these questions to your friends with the help of Sharing options available. All the best to you all. I am looking forward to your answers.

Jagga Jasoos #7

Jagga Jasoos was currently visiting Australia for spending time with his friend Darren Lehmann. They both had met during world cup 2007, when Bob Woolmer was murdered. Jagga Jasoos was theere for investigation purposes. This time, Lehmann was serving as the coach of Australian cricket team. Lehmann had asked all the team players to remain present at the dinner as his friend was coming to visit him. Being asked about his friend, Lehmann told that Jagga Jasoos is a famous detective, who is able to solve any murder or theft cases within moments of time. When, Lehmann told them about hundred percent success rate of Jagga Jasoos, no one was ready to accept this fact. So, three of those team members decided to test Jagga Jasoos on the dinner. These three include, Clarke, Warner and Lee. What these three did, they stole bat, a stump and helmet of their coach Lehmann.
At the time of dinner, Jagga Jasoos arrived on time. There, Darren Lehmann was looking sad as three of his items were stolen by his own team players. Lehmann knew that these items were stolen by three players - Warner, Clarke and Lee. Plus, Lehmann told Jagga Jasoos that each of these three had stolen a single item. Jagga came across these three players for investigation.
Clarke said, "Warner had stolen bat."
Lee said, "Warner had stolen helmet."
Warner said, "They both were lying."

Now, Watson, being a team player and well aware of these three persons' nature, decided to help Jagga Jasoos. Watson told Jagga Jasoos, "The person who stole a stump is lying.  And the other two are speaking complete truth."
Jagga Jasoos, with the help of this clue, was able to tell what each of these three players had stolen. How can Jagga Jasoos surely tell about complete theft process, just with the help of these statements?
Put yourself into this task and tell the answers about the whole theft process.
I will wait for your answers. As you all know, there is a competition going on, I ask you all to mail me your answers. So, no one gets an extra advantage. You can also mail me to know the correct answers.

Car Number of Hardy

There can be no person in this logic world, who does not recognize the person named: Srinivasa Ramanujan. Ramanujan was one of the best mathematicians, who devoted his life to mathematics and is known for his research regarding prime numbers, theta functions and master theorems. This puzzle is about one incidence that happened in his life.
Ramanujan was once ill and was admitted into a hospital. There was another mathematician Hardy came to visit him. Hardy knew the interest of Ramanujan in the numbers. So, he kept the taxi number he used to arrive hospital in mind. After seeing Ramanujan he asked about this number. Hardy said: "I find this taxi number #### somewhat dull. Is this a bad omen to travel in a taxi, which is numbered ####? Can you tell me anything special about this number?"
Though being on hospital bed, Ramanujan was quick in replying the special characteristic about this number. He said:
"This is the first natural number, which can be written as a sum of two  cubes of natural numbers in two different ways."

Though Ramanujan told about the characteristic by seeing the number. I here, ask you to tell me the number with the help of the clue given by Ramanujan himself. Which can be the first number that can be written as sum of two cubes in two different ways."
This puzzle is a very interesting one and a very famous one. This number #### is also known the 'Hardy-Ramanujan Number".
With this, I leave you for brain-storming for finding this special number. All the best to you all Logic Lovers.

Jagga Jasoos #6

I knew, this day will come. Jagga Jasoos today has been kidnapped by a famous underworld Don, whose brother was arrested by Jagga Jasoos. The Don knew that people keep on saying that Jagga Jasoos has got some extra ordinary skills. Jagga can come out of any deadly situation without even a cut. So, Don decided to test Jagga's skills with a pure logical puzzle. He asks ninety nine of his men to stand in a circle with Jagga Jasoos. (In total: Hundred persons - including Jagga Jasoos)

Then, he explains what is going to happen in this mystery. The Don will give the gun to the first person standing, and this person will shoot the second person. Then, he will pass the gun to third person. He kills the person next to him. (Fourth person from start) and passes gun to next one. (Fifth)

Jagga Jasoos #5

Jagga Jasoos, after his career in crime solving for ten years has now become famous into all the corners of the world. Jagga Jasoos was being called by different countries' officials to solve the mysteries regarding theft and murder. Jagga was enjoying the publicity as well as the trust people were putting on him. One day, there was an incident happened in between the pacific ocean, which needed Jagga Jasoos's skills.
In the middle of the Pacific Ocean, there was one Japanese ship travelling for business related work. The captain of the ship had a precious stone, which was supposed to be given to the government of Japan after reaching there. To keep the stone safe, captain had it put in front of his sight. But, one morning, the captain went to take bath, and this stone was stolen. When, the captain returned after bath, he found this precious stone missing.
The domestic crime solving agency of Japan had asked all the crew members about their whereabouts when this theft happened. After certain cautious thinking, the agency was able to come down to these five suspects. When asked about what they were doing by Jagga Jasoos, all were ready with their replies(all except one were correct, as the thief was one of these five suspects only.)
The French Engineer: I was working on issues regarding ship engine.
The British Cook: I was cooking the lunch for all the crew members in the kitchen.
The Sri Lankan seaman:  I was on the mast correcting the flag, which was upside down.
The Indian navigation officer: I was taking a nap as my night duty had been over.
The Australian radio officer: I was messaging the coast company, about the weather and the time that will take to reach.

Upon hearing to all these five suspects, Jagga Jasoos was laughing as hard as possible. The Japanese Agency knew the meaning of that: Jagga has solved the case.
How can Jagga surely know who the killer was? And who was the killer?
These are the two questions, I would like you to think about and come up with the answers. I have confidence that you will reach to the answers. It is just a matter of time that you need to give for solving. All the best. Solve it as soon as possible and mail me the answers.

Jagga Jasoos #4

Jagga Jasoos was on a trip to Khajjiar - Mini Switzerland near Simla. To spend a free time after a hectic month of solving too many crime scenes, was there to enjoy the leisure time with friends. They were staying at Hotel Calapsis. The manager of Hotel Calapsis didn't charge anything to Jagga and his friends, as JJ had helped the manager in the suicide(so called) case of a middle aged man. That was the main reason to visit Khajjiar today, but for enjoying - not solving crime mysteries.

As, I mentioned the case Jagga had solved recently during his previous visit to Khajjiar, I would give this case to you all for testing your brain skills.

2nd January, 2013 was the date. The month of  winter, when there is rush of tourists in Khajjiar. Mr. Brihaspati was staying in the room - 1408. On the night of 2nd January, he committed suicide. And, in this peak season of tourists, the police had asked Hotel Calapsis, to not entertain any more customers until the case is solved. By this, hotel manager was worried for the loss possible to occur to their business, called Jagga Jasoos to help the police in solving the case.

Jagga arrived at the crime scene , realized that police hadn't touched anything as they were waiting for him only and saw Mr Brihaspati lying on the floor of the room 1408, completely lifeless. In his one hand, there was a gun and on the other hand - a tape recorder. When, Jagga played the recorder, he heard Brihaspati's voice. He was saying:

"I am tired of this hectic and boring life. I have been lonely since last three years. So, I decide to relieve myself from these worldly pains. I do it on my own, no one else is at the blame." After hearing this, Jagga Jasoos told the policeman that the case is not of suicide. This guy is murdered. And, with the help of finger prints on the recorder, police reached to the killer.

How could Jagga Jasoos clearly say that Mr Brihaspati did not commit suicide and was murdered. Put yourself in the shoes of Jagga Jasoos and try to solve this mystery. Make your brain work for the solution.

With that, I leave you all to this brain exercise. See you all, till the next puzzle comes.

Jagga Jasoos #3

Jagga Jasoos is called at a crime scene. a man is lying in front of the building. By seeking the position of the windows of the building and the body lying on the ground, it is evident that this man jumped out from one of those windows and committed suicide.

Jagga Jasoos asks his men to collect the traces if they can find any - on the body and heads towards the building. He went to the first floor and towards the room that was front side of the building. Inside the room, he lit a cigarette, walked towards the window facing the dead body, opened the window and thrown out the cigarette.

After moving out of the room, he goes to the second floor. There, he did the same thing. He went to the room which was on the front side of the building. He lit another cigarette, walked towards the window facing the dead body, opened the window and thrown out the cigarette.

This thing happens on each floor. After doing the same procedure on the top floor, Jagga decided to take lift and went on the ground floor. And, told his men that this is not a suicide. This incident was a murder.
The dead body lying on the ground was murdered by someone.

How could Jagga Jasoos say that the person was murdered and didn't commit suicide?
There are clues in the description above. Just, try to find needed data within the description. Imagine, yourself as the famous detective Jagga Jasoos. And try to solve the mystery on your own.

All the best to you all LLs. I am looking forward to your answers.
See you all. The next puzzle is on the way...

Jagga Jasoos #2

It was a dark and stormy night. A couple was travelling to Kolkata. The radio was on and news were going on.

Voice from Radio said: The mass murderer Abhikrut Sen had broken the prison thirty minutes ago. This murdered can be anywhere near Kolkata, wondering on the road. It is completely risky to roam on the roads right now. All the people, on the way near Kolkata, go and find shelter as soon as possible. One particular attribute of Abhikrut is that, he murders the victim by stabbing in the neck itself.

But, as Murphy's law says: If anything can go wrong, it will.

Front tire of the car got punctured. Husband had to go to some distance to find mechanic. He asked his wife to sit in the car itself and not move out of it in any circumstance. He asked his wife to keep all the doors of car locked and windows shut.

His wife did exactly what he asked to. But, still Abhikrut saw her in the car and managed to stab her to death. The car was locked. The front tire was punctured. All windows shut. How could have Abhikrut got the chance to stab her in the neck?

Jagga Jasoos #1

Jagga Jasoos - the famous detective for the world of crime solving. The one, who solves the murder mysteries within the moments of time and has a success ratio of 100 percent till date. He is here - with an incident happened with him.

Jagga Jasoos presents the first mystery of this season:

(And an easy one to start with)

Jagga reviewed the information they had on the case so far. We are talking about the case of a lady murdered in her home. This incident happened when Jagga had been famous for his crime solving capabilities. And, there were many out there, wanting to challenge his skills.

Incident:
A lady named 'Monalisa' was found shot and Jagga Jasoos was ready with a list of suspects:
Rooney, Torres, Dabid, Messi, Ronaldo.
(It is for sure that, murdered is one of these guys.)
Killer was jealous of Jagga's skills and challenged Jagga Jasoos by leaving messages at certain places.

-> The first was found in a drawing room.

-> The second was found in an art room.
-> The third was found in a bed room.
-> The fourth was found in an ice-cream room.
-> The fifth was found in the desk room.

All the clues found had the same thing written: "There are clues in front of your eyes. You just need some brain workout to reach to me."

Jagga Jasoos just paused for a moment and then arrested the killer immediately. Who was the killer and how did he reach to the culprit within a fraction of time."

All the puzzles of this season are based on mere logic. There are no complex concepts wrapped with the puzzles.

I hope you are finding these puzzles thought provoking. To try some more of this kind, go through this:

Sherlock Holmes

Sherlock at his best

Sherlock Holmes, the famous detective who is ready to solve any murder mystery within a fraction of time is here with one incident.

Sherlock was walking down the streets in the morning,, when he found many people were gathered at a cross roads. They were murmuring about what could have happened. Sherlock goes to the centre of the crowd and found a woman's dead body. Before attempting to check for clues, he asked others whether they had taken anything lying from here or not. As answers came, no one had tried to temper the contents near the body and no one had touched this woman's body.

Sherlock, after examining the contents of the purse lying beside that woman, found her license. Her name was Annabelle. Sherlock called her residence with the help of the number present on the license. The conversation goes like this:
Sherlock: Your wife is dead.
Husband: No way. How can this happen?
Sherlock: Please come and confirm the dead body's identity.
Husband: Ok.
Call was over.

After certain minutes passed, husband arrived at the location and found the dead body and started crying after seeing his wife lying on the road.
Sherlock looked at the police- who had arrived at the location and asked them to arrest the husband as he was the murderer.

How can Sherlock surely know that husband himself had murdered his wife? Simple logic is lying there, in the contents of the puzzle. Go and find it. Give your brain a healthy workout. I know you can solve this murder mystery. If Sherlock can, then why can't you.
With that, I leave you to this puzzle. Solve it and come with the answer. See you all. And for the sake of a suspense creation, I leave with the comment: " We are introducing a new character with certain number of puzzles - waiting for you to be solved.  A new genre and new excitements are on way."

Surprise Test

Yo LOGIC LOVERS,

This puzzle mind boggle your mind. Try to read it carefully and give your brain a long exercise to think through all the possible corners as this puzzle, from my point of view is quite interesting and quite logical in itself. So, to solve this dilemma, you have to work harder.

Students: M'am, we are having quite a free time as we are not having the test dated in near future.
Teacher: (Thinking) These students will not study, until I have given them enough exercises and a deadline of test. So, I have to do something in a way, that they start studying. Plus, here I have to keep in mind that I keep test in a way that they don't only study a day before the exam. I will give them a surprise test, so they keep studying throughout this week.
Teacher: So, students you all are having a test next week.
Students:(Stunned) But when teacher?

Numbers speak more than words

Hello LLs,
We all are the kind of people, who find a rare kind of interest towards Numbers. We feel like these digits are trying to talk to us. These numbers are trying to speak their sides of stories. That is the power of logic. We try to see what is beyond the mere visibility. For the sake of this interest towards numbers, I am today going to present you a puzzle which has only numbers in it. These numbers are trying to speak their side of story. Just try to listen to their words. I am sure, you will find what you are looking for.
Tip: Don't over-think yourself. The answer is lying in front of you. I can see it right there, staring at you, screaming the logic behind their positions. Try to reach to the answer now.

Puzzle: Use any mathematical sign in between these numbers - to prove these operations mathematically correct.

2 2 2 = 6
3 3 3 = 6
4 4 4 = 6
5 5 5 = 6
6 6 6 = 6
7 7 7 = 6
8 8 8 = 6
9 9 9 = 6

Fresh and Dry Grapes

Food we eat everyday, contain pulp as a material of different vitamins and there is water in it.
Now, considering watermelon, it contains around 96% of water in itself. So, the remaining 4% is the content. This content percentage keeps changing with the evaporation of water from the fresh fruit. The puzzle we are talking about today is based on this concept only.

Puzzle: Fresh grapes contain 90% water in themselves. The remaining 10% is the content. We need to make dry grapes from these fresh grapes. In dry grapes, the ratio of water to content changes drastically, as water evaporates. Now, consider the percentage of water in dry grapes is only 20. ie, Dry grapes contain 80% content and 20% water.
You are given with 20kg of fresh grapes. You are supposed to make dry grapes from these fresh grapes. How many kg of dry grapes can you make from these fresh grapes?

The puzzle is based on ratio and proportion concepts. Even if, you don't remember these concepts, you can still try to answer them, with mere logic.

Apples

My favourite puzzle:

An apple a day keeps the doctor away." This was just a fact to start the puzzle with.
Without roaming around the knowledge regarding the facts, I will come directly to the puzzle.

There is a city A, which produces apples in a large quantities. So, they export those apples to city B. Where, there is a huge need of apples. City A has 3000 apples ready to be exported to other cities. Now, there is one truck available at point A. Which has the capacity of 1000 apples. The distance between city A and B is 1000 miles. So, you have a task to use this truck to export these apples to 1000 miles away.

But, the truck driver is addicted to apples and he eats apples if available with him. He consumes one apple every mile he drives. So, how many apples can you manage to transfer from city A to city B? You can stop for any number of times in between.

The answer is completely logical. Correct answer is neither 3000 nor zero. So, think about it logically. You will definitely reach to answer as near as possible. All the best to you all. Solve this puzzle. This puzzle is not an easy one. It is tough but solvable.

3000 is not the solution, as you are not supposed to stop at every 0.99 miles to prevent driver from eating apples. Think logically. Stop at only integer number of miles. And, reach to the answer. (To omit this case only, I had written 3000 is not the answer.)

The different ball in terms of weight

Cricket, Football, Volleyball, Tennis, Baseball and many other games are incomplete without the balls. Now, think that certain number of one of these kind of balls are here with you. All these balls are supposed to have same weight. But, due to malfunction in producing of one ball, its weight is more than all other balls.
You are given 80 seemingly identical tennis balls, but one of them weighs slightly more than the others. You are given with a weight balance and are supposed to have a  number of tries to find the one ball with the heavier weight. You have to use minimum number of attempts to get to this heavy ball. Consider only worst case scenario. Ie, you are not supposed to think that you will find the heavier ball in only one attempt. Consider all the scenarios together. This is the kind of puzzle, which requires a certain amount of hard work to reach to the answer. The number of balls is a big number.

But, if you can not work with this huge number, try to work with smaller number of balls. For example, start solving with 12 balls or 20 balls. And, try to find the logic behind all these kind of riddles. You will surely get the logic which is true for any number of balls given. Find that logic and then you will be able to solve this kind of puzzle with any number given - no matter whether it is too big or too small. You will be able to solve that puzzle. All the best for solving this puzzle. Try hard, harder and hardest. Don't try to surf the answers through Internet, as this kind of puzzle will definitely be available to you with solution on Search Engine. Try to solve this interesting puzzle by yourself.

The questions, I am going to ask today will surely twist your brain nurves.
Now, by stratching on these three dimensions, I create another cuboid.

These three questions can be used to measure your command on the numbers.

ie,
1. If you get all three questions correct, you are thorough with the concepts related to numbers.
2. If you get two out of three questions correct, you are better than 95% of the general audience.
3. If you get one question correct, you are better than 75%  of the general audience.

These percentages are defined with the help of a survay on fifty persons taken of different genre. So, it can be used on a larger scale too.

If you reach to answers, comment those answers below this post. I am eager to know your capabilities. You can also ask these questions to your friends with the help of Sharing options available. All the best to you all. I am looking forrward to your answers.
